Artist Spotlight: Micah Rose

Micah Rose carves queer divinity in breath, word, and movement. They are a memory artist who embraces oral & embodied traditions like theatre, story circles, biomimicry, spoken word, and more as paths for communal care. Micah roots in relation: cultivating futures with peoples at The Theater Offensive, Pao Arts Center, Liyang Network, American Repertory Theatre, Trans Resistance MA, and beyond. They are Co-Director of Emergence at Arts Connect International; an Artist in Residence at Company One Theatre and Boston Public Library; and a Boston University School of Theatre alum. Micah’s writing is published in The Margins, CONSTRUCT zine, The Wave Magazine, Ginger Bug Press, and HowlRound Theatre Commons.

Enjoy their spoken word piece, that explores the mango as a symbol for us to speak ourselves into full, loving futures.

You don’t want to miss the opportunity to catch this dynamic, passionate performer later this season as part of The Collective Imaginary exhibit coming in May 2022. It is part of a series of exhibitions at the Center, New Narratives which features twenty-five artworks by sixteen Boston-area Asian artists, who are exploring aspects of their identity through their art, as well as Asian culture and narrative informed by personal experience.

Your donations tonight will help bring this exhibit to our gallery and support artists like Micah.
