Bringing in the Year of the Dragon in Style
On Wednesday, February 21, 75 Leadership Council members, long-time supporters and newcomers joined us to ring in the year of the dragon in style and raised $13,000 for our Lunar New Year programs. Guests enjoyed inventive small plates and signature Dragon’s Breath cocktail from Shojo, viewed the current exhibits, and enjoyed classical music by Leona Chung and Ming-hang Tam. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
Guests were invited to view the current exhibits, Lunchbox Moments and Chinatown Workers Statue: A Statue in the Making closing this month.
Guests were invited to add their aspirations for the community on our wishing tree, a Chinese New Year tradition of sharing dreams and hopes for prosperity.
“My wish is for total and complete well-being for everyone that lives and works in Chinatown.”
Two highly talented musicians from Hong Kong, Leona Chung and Ming-hang Tam, provided musical performances highlighting local artists from the AAPI community. At the end of the evening, two lucky winners were drawn to receive commemorative Lunar New Year gifts, generously donated by Hsiu-Lan Chang.
“My wish is that seven years become seventy years of successful outreach into the community and that all communities become one.”
Proceeds from the evening supported our family-friendly public Lunar New Year Celebration held three short days prior. The public celebration on Sunday, February 18th, attracted 800 people and included fun-filled hands-on crafts and captivating performances from people across New England. Read more on our blog.
“My wish is for Chinatown to remain a beacon for all cultural identity and celebration…”
Special thanks to our generous sponsors
